On the 17th of March 2017, Kate and William visited the 1st Battalion of Irish Guards for St. Patrick’s Day in London. William who is the Colonel since been appointed in may 2011, has been at the parade and taking the salute since 2013 (in 2012 he was in the Falklands and in 2011, both him and Kate visited for Armed Forces Day.) Kate, who received criticism for missing last year(but did attend on her own in 2012), presented the shamrocks to the guards.
William took the salute during the parade. 350 soldiers with their mascot Domnhall, an Irish Wolfhound marched in the parade. The Cadet wing, The Mini Micks,
lined the parade route. Kate was presented a posy by 7 year Katie, Who’s dad is Colour Sergeant Darren Lorimer
of The Irish Guards regiment. After this, The couple posed for the annual Sergeants’ and Officers’ Mess photographs.
Finally, Kate and William moved indoors for the Guardsmen’s lunch,
where they met with Families and Officers
. After this, Kate and William, took a private plane to start the two day trip to Paris.

She wore the Cartier Shamrock, which is on loan from the Irish guards for the day.
